Plumbers install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

Apprenticeship Program

9000 hours of on-the-job training, supplemented by three 8-week sessions of in-class technical training.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing systems

  • Mark positions for pipe connections and fixtures in walls and floors

  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings

  • Measure, cut, bend and install pipes using hand and power tools

  • Join pipes using clamps, screws, bolts or cement

  • Weld pipes

  • Test pipes for leaks

  • Prepare cost estimates

  • Read & interpreting blueprints

Entrance Requirements

  • Grade 12 Diploma preferred 

  • Math & English at a Grade 12 Level

Journeyperson Wage Rate:

$58.90/Hr (2022)
